International and US-based rap legend, Dwayne Micheal Carter Jr is otherwise known as Lil Wayne, has recently revealed in an interview that he is 53% Nigerian which he had been unaware of for the most part of his life.
The rapper proudly owned up to this during his interview with Revolt TV when he was asked about one of his songs in which his lyrics stated he is Nigerian.
He replied that his lyrics were indeed true and he had only discovered for himself his apparent Nigerian background when he decided to trace his roots through an ancestral search.
“Shout out to Nigeria, I did my 23 and me ancestry dot com and my shit came back like 53% Nigerian. Yea! I and my mum I need to have a talk (Laughter),” he said.
The 37-year-old even went ahead to say that he would love to visit Nigeria and find out more about his ancestral home.
He went ahead to joke about having some questions for his mother regarding his apparent roots.
All of this came up when he was asked by Drink Champ interviewers, N.O.R.E and DJ EFN of Revolt TV, what country he would like to visit in the nearest future and he mentioned Nigeria and Egypt; stating that he “gats to visit Nigeria.”
