For this week’s Naijazzy top three female artists, we have:
- Simi
Born, Simisola Simi Ogunleye, Simi is a popular Nigerian singer and songwriter. She started her career as a gospel singer, releasing her debut studio album in 2008, titled, “Ogaju”. She gained prominence in 2014 after releasing “Tiff”, a song that was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies 2015.
Simi as she is popularly called signed a record deal with X3M Music in 2014 but she left in May 2019 following the expiration of her contact. While her second album, “Simisola” was released on September 8th, 2017, her third studio album Omo Charlie Champagne Vol.1 was released to coincide with her 31st birthday on 19th April 2019.
- Tiwa Savage
Born, Tiwatope Savage, Tiwa is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and actress who is currently on a songwriting deal with Song/ATV Music Publishing. She signed a recording contract with Mavin Records in 2012. She also signed a management and publishing deal with Roc Nation in June 2016. With the awards received, there is no doubt that Tiwa Savage is really a badass in the music industry.

Her contribution to the Nigerian Music Industry has earned her several achievements, including the MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act. In May 2019, Savage announced her record deal with Universal Music Group and exit from Mavin Records.
- Yemi Alade
Born Yemi Eberechi Alade, Yemi is a Nigerian afropop singer and songwriter who gained prominence after winning the peak Talent Show in 20019. She is best known for her hit single, “Jonny”
Her debut studio album King of Queens was released on October 2, 2014, by Effyzzie Music Group. The album was preceded by three singles: “Johnny”, “Tangerine” and “Kissing”. It features guest appearances and skits from Bovi, R2Bees, Phyno, Chidinma, DIL, Selebobo and Diamond Platnumz.
Alade promoted the album by touring several African countries, including Ghana, Kenya and South Africa. According to the music platform A Nation of Billions, King of Queens sold over 100,000 copies.

Alade’s second studio album Mama Africa was released on March 25, 2016, by Effyzzie Music Group. The album is the follow-up to her debut studio album King of Queens (2014). Yemi Alade announced that proceeds from the sale of the album will go to the Feed a Child charity initiative.
