Atiku Abubarkar who was the candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the just concluded 2019 presidential election is not taking a chill pill. For him, the election is not over yet since President Muhammadu Buhari was re-elected again.
Yesterday being Monday 18th March 2019, it was reported that Atiku had set a team of lawyers to file a petition against President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election. His team of lawyers was headed by Chris Uche. The team of lawyers were at the Court of Appeal which is the venue of the Presidential poll tribunal.
It was equally reported that Atiku’s team of lawyers are in the process of filling a petition against Nigerian’s electoral body which is the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The petition is against the declaration of President Buhari as the winner of the just concluded Presidential election.
When newsmen asked Chris Uche, the head of Atiku;s team of lawyers if the above development was true, he briefly replied, “Yes, it is true”.
It is to be recalled that the presidential election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja had granted Atiku acess to the presidential election material. This was after Atiku brought an ex-parte motion seeking access to the materials used in the presidential election. The panel which sat on Wednesday, 6th March 2019 heard the application which was subsequently granted.
